Help

Hey guys. This is a very personal post but... I need help. Being a new mom has been, well, lonely. Really lonely. Yes, I have my precious baby boy to play with all day but it's not like he can talk to me, really listen to me, or play with me. It's hard when it's so one sided alllll day. The most exciting things in my life (other than the cute things Ander is constantly doing and the couple hours of rehearsal I have each week) are finally finding something good to watch on Netflix, finally seeing Brandon's car come in the driveway, or getting an Amazon package in the mail. It's always been easy for me to make friends and form connections with people. I've always had a best friend. It's weird to not have one. Yes, I have close friends and I love them dearly. But I don't have that one person that I can call for anything, that person who lives down the road who I can hang out with all the time while Brandon is at work, or on the weekends to go have...

Our Little Lion- Ander's Birth Story

My mom flew in from AZ to work her magic on Friday, Aug 30 th . She arrived at around 1 pm and we promptly went walking around the nearby outlet mall for several hours. We went to dinner at 6:30 and during the meal I started noticing stronger, deeper contractions that were pretty regular. I didn’t think they were real contractions because I had just been measured at 1.5 cm dilated 2 days prior and my doctor was thinking I would deliver after my due date (Sep 5 th ). I started timing them at about 5-6 minutes apart. Mom decided we needed to do more walking (ha ha) and so, of course, we went and did more shopping. The contractions got so uncomfortable that I couldn’t walk normally. At around 9 pm I called my doctor and he said I could head to the hospital at any time. I wanted to labor at home as long as possible to avoid the use of medication so he told me I could wait until they were about three minutes apart. We went home and watched a movie (How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days) to distract...

Catchin Up

I know, I know. It's been like 10 years (but really only 9ish months) since I posted last. But that's because there have been super EXCITING things happening in our lives. Brandon is back at school for his LAST semester! WOOO!!! We are pretty stoked. I, being the mature, graduated lady I am, got a full time job! I absolutely LOOOOVE it! It is a small office in American Fork called Mountain West Foot and Ankle Institute and I am learning so much every day. I never thought I would be working as a patient care coordinator/medical assistant for a foot doctor. It is so interesting. Dr. Gibson is the nicest guy ever and I LOVE the 4 other ladies I work with every day. Also, Brandon just found out today that he got a job working for Property Solutions! I'll let him tell you more about that later... :) Yes, I am still dancing. Of course. :) I auditioned for a company in Denver in June and after the two week long process, I was invited to join their company. However, after MUCH ...

"You did real good, Jess. You did real good."

Ha ha. What a week. So... last year I went to this master class with a man named John Corsa from Parson's Dance Company in New York. The class was SO fun and I learned so much. After the class, John asked for my contact information because he wanted to work with tall people such as I. Ecstatic, I obliged. We've been in contact since then and as my senior project was coming up, I asked him if he would come here to set a piece on me. Guess what? He said YES (for 700 dollars.. don’t worry, that’s pretty good for a pro choreographer)! For the dance major, you can choose to do a choreographic project or a performance project in the Senior Showcase. Since I want to perform professionally, I went with the second option. The timing was perfect because John was going to be in town anyway, setting a piece on UVU's dance company. He also got to teach a week of master classes at BYU which was way super fun too. I spent two hours with John (outside of class) every day this last we...

OahUUUUuuuu!!

I flew straight from Orange, CA to Honolulu, Hawaii for a week of fun with the fam! I was SOOO psyched to see Brandon again. Two weeks is WAY too long. I never EVER want to be away from him that long again. I can't believe I cried at the airport upon seeing him after all that time. What a goober. Ha ha. Oahu was SOO much fun and it was SO great to see Quinn again. We miss him!!Sorry these photos are so scrambled. They are definitely not in the right order but I can't figure out how to fix it. Ha. The above photo is at Sunset Beach. That was my favorite night of the trip. We just played in the water until the sun started setting and then played in the sand, tried out our model poses (ha) and had some friendly competitions. Ha ha. Brandon creamed us all in the long jump but the foot race was a close one between him and Quinn. Ted's Bigger Burgers was YUMMY. Holy Hannah are those burgers ginormous! Mine was SOOO good. It had a "bigger (you choose big, bigger, ...

Backhaus Dance Summer Intensive

July 18th-30th I got the amazing opportunity to go to Orange, CA for a summer dance intensive with Backhausdance, a professional modern dance company. It was an AMAZING two weeks and I learned so much. I took class from 9:30 to 5, Monday through Friday for two weeks and then performed in a show Fri and Sat night of the second week. Some classes I was able to take were contemporary jazz, modern, ballet, contemporary ballet, pilates, somatics, composition, improvisation, Limon technique and partnering (possibly my favorite class). We also had rehearsal from 3:30-5 everyday. All the students were split into three groups to learn some rep from the company. The piece I got chosen for was "Love and Other Impossiblities". It was a BLAST! It was a combination of contemporary and tango. I got to partner with several guys and get lifted!! (this is new for me being 6'1). It was basically a dream come true performance. Ha ha. When it was over I made sure to write down ...

Brandon is Prospering :)

This is kind of old news but for those of you who don't know.. Brandon got this amazing job for a company called Prosper. It's a financial consulting company for people who want to get out of debt, succeed in their businesses, or just be smarter with their money. He has learned a lot and is doing really well. He animatedly tells me all about it all the time! haha. He actually won a huge flat screen tv because he is so amazing! It was a 42 in. but we decided to upgrade a little and get a 50 in. It has been SO nice. Our old tv was so ghetto. Ha ha. To celebrate we got a kinect for our x-box and the game dance central. We play it ALL the time. :) He also just won a huge stainless steel grill! We are pretty excited about that and can't wait to have a real backyard we can put it in! For now it will be used well at my in-laws house. Bring on the steak!! Woot woot! Brandon also won a week driving a brand new Mercedes. Its b-e-a-u-tiful! If only we could keep it! Actually Brandon ...
